The Swedish Navy has had several battleships throughout its history. The most famous battleship is the HMS Gustav V, which was commissioned in 1941 and served in World War II. It was 220 meters long and could reach speeds of up to 28 knots. The ship had a displacement of 28,000 tons and was equipped with eight 15-inch guns and sixteen 5.25-inch guns. It had a crew of approximately 1,000 sailors. The Gustav V remained in service until 1958 and was then scrapped. Another notable battleship was the HMS Drottning Victoria, which was commissioned in 1909 and served in World War I. It was 135 meters long and had a displacement of 7,550 tons. It was equipped with two 9.2-inch guns and twelve 6-inch guns. The Drottning Victoria was decommissioned in 1927 and scrapped.
